Events Pulpcon

End of the first day

DAYTON, Ohio – Just a quick post before things get rolling this morning since I didn’t get a chance to post last night.

Dealers continued showing up during the afternoon Thursday, but after dinner at Beer and Cheeseburgers, the dealers’ room began slowing down. Toward the end of the day, guest of honor Ernest Chiriacka, his daughter and David Saunders, the son of pulp artist Norman Saunders, showed up, as did Will Murray.

From left: John Gunnison and Mike Chomko (seated) talk with Gene Christie on Thursday afternoon as Richard Bleiler browses the dealers’ room.

After the dealers’ room closed and the PulpCon room wasn’t yet open in the hotel, a few fans gathered in Bill Mann’s room to talk pulps and pulp fans. Around 10 p.m. or so, Chris and David Kalb showed up after a trip delayed by car trouble.

There was talk of a visit to Bookery Fantasy’s store and another Dayton bookstore today.

More later.
