Events Pulpcon Pulps

The postman always brings pulp

Well, I wish. But today, he delivered the latest Pulpcon News flyer.

You can click the image at left to see a scanned version. You’ll find information about registration, location, the spaghetti dinner, the pulp room and auctions.

(The same information is now available on the Pulpcon Web site.)

There’s little info on this year’s Guests of Honor though. Apparently, offers have been extended, but no confirmations have been made.

The flyer says this year’s Pulpcon will celebrate writer Jack Williamson and the 70th anniversary of John W. Campbell taking over as editor of Astounding Science Fiction/Analog Science Fiction & Fact. There will be slideshow of key Astounding issues, a prsentation about Williamson by Stephen Haffner, and a DVD interview with Williams conducted by James Gunn in the 1970s.

Williamson, you might recall, published quite a number of stories in the science fiction pulps. He died just over a year ago (Nov. 10, 2006) in Portales, N.M., at 98.
