‘MacBride & Kennedy’ coming in fall

The Complete Cases of MacBride & Kennedy, Vol. 1Altus Press announced over on its Facebook page that Frederick Nebel‘s classic detective team from Black Mask — police Capt. Steve MacBride and reporter Kennedy of the Richmond City Free Press — will return in four volumes, beginning this fall.

“Raw Law: The Complete Cases of MacBride & Kennedy Volume 1: 1928-30” will reintroduce the pair to print, and “Shake-Down: The Complete Cases of MacBride & Kennedy Volume 2: 1930-33” will appear a month later.

MacBride and Kennedy appeared in over three dozen stories in Black Mask beginning in 1928 and continuing through 1936. Ron Goulart in “The Dime Detectives” calls the stories “filled with thorough police work and fast, wild action.”

I’ve been eager to read them ever since I first read Goulart’s book. So naturally, I’m very excited that Matt Moring will be bringing these stories back into print. They are long overdue.

If you enjoy Nebel, then pick up “The Complete Casebook of Cardigan,” four volumes that Altus Press published last year.
