Bits of pulp: Doc, Doc, goose

Lester Dent
Lester Dent

With Doc Con starting tomorrow, let’s just make this a Doc Savage week at Yellowed Perils.

REMEMBERING LESTER DENT: Terence Towles Canote over at A Shroud of Thoughts blog has a nice tribute to “The 110th Anniversary of Lester Dent‘s Birth.”

While Dent is popularly remembered as the chief writer for Doc Savage Magazine, he also had other series characters and stories in the pulps. Canote covers that history in his tribute.

The anniversary of Dent’s birthday was actually last Sunday, Oct. 12.

Doc Savage action figureDOC SAVAGE IN ACTION: Artist Andy Fish teases us with photos of Go Hero‘s upcoming Doc Savage action figure.

He’s posted a pair of photos of his Bantam-era Doc figure on his Fish Wrap blog.

Fish says he picked up the figure at Go Hero’s booth at the recent New York Comic Con. The rest of us will have to wait for it to go on sale.

Who doesn’t need another pulp collectible for the bookshelf?

SO THERE REALLY ISN’T A GOOSE, BUT…: I couldn’t pass up the headline.

But while I still have you, I thought I should mention that if you can’t make it to the Arizona Doc Con this weekend, you can still keep up with what’s going on.

Allyson Dyar will be posting photos on the con’s Facebook page. Hopefully you’ll see comments from those attending, too.
