‘The Pulpster,’ and PulpFest plans

"The Pulpster" No. 24Man, the end of July is in just three days. PulpFest is just over two weeks away. Where did the summer — and, heck, the spring — go?

As you’ve probably noticed, I haven’t posted very much at Yellowed Perils so far this year. After such a great year in 2014, I got off to a bad start in 2015 and never recovered.

Then May hit.

Starting in May and continuing through June and July, most — if not all — of my “pulp time” is devoted to putting together the year’s issue of The Pulpster for PulpFest. The final PDF went to the printers yesterday.

I think it’s a terrific issue. We have an outstanding roster of contributors, and articles on H.P. Lovecraft, Maj. Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, Ned Pines‘ Thrilling line of pulps, Erle Stanley Gardner, the Street & Smith comics, European pulp heroes, and much more.

Thanks to all of the contributors, and to Mike Chomko and Peter Chomko, who as publisher and assistant editor, provided invaluable help getting this magazine put out.

Whew! It’s been a busy few months. Now time for a bit of a breather, then off to Ohio for PulpFest.

Like last year, I will be publishing daily reports here at Yellowed Perils. And you can also get updates at ThePulp.Net‘s social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Be sure to check back after PulpFest is over. I’ll be posting audio recordings from PulpFest panels to ThePulp.Net’s Pulp Event Podcast, as well as a roundup of PulpFest reports.

I really hope you’ll be able to make it to PulpFest this year. It’s something every pulp fan should attend at least once. (If you can’t attend, you’ll still be able to get this issue of The Pulpster by becoming a supporting member of PulpFest at its website, or by purchasing a copy through Mike Chomko, Books after the con.)
