Pulp AdventureCon returns to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for the third time on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017. At the same time, it kicks off a new year of pulp conventions, which typically culminates with November’s original Pulp AdventureCon in New Jersey.
I’ve been lucky to attend the past two Florida gatherings, but due to scheduling conflicts, I sadly won’t be in Fort Lauderdale this year. A couple of our Florida contingent of Southern Pulpsters — Jeff Shanks and Mark Maddox — will be there. I’m hoping that I will be able to join them agian next year.Read More
Bits of pulp is an irregular feature of Yellowed Perils, and gives me a chance to touch upon a collection of items that popped up on my pulp radar recently.
STAR WARS BUILT ON ANOTHER FOUNDATION? Here’s an interesting concept: The Jedi Order is the Star Wars equivalent to the Second Foundation in Isaac Asimov‘s Foundation series.Read More

Now that PulpFest 2016 is over, it’s time for my annual listing of convention reports.
I will be updating this post over the next few weeks as new reports are posted online. I will add a line at the top of the post to indicate when it has been updated.
I recorded over seven-and-a-half hours of PulpFest 2016 programming, and those recordings are now available for listening. If you subscribe to the Pulp Event Podcast through iTunes, podcasts for all nine events have been uploaded. If you’re prefer to listen to them from the website, head over to ThePulp.Net’s PulpFest 2016 coverage page. There you will find links to pages with photos and embedded audio for each of the events that I recorded.
Now on to the reports (listed alphabetically)…
I got home last evening from my 1,750-mile round trip to PulpFest 2016. It’s a long drive, but well worth it.
I apologize again for not getting a report on day 3 of the convention posted Sunday. I didn’t get up early enough, then had too much to do before hitting the road for a seven-hour drive, which was the first half of my trip home.
Now that all that’s taken care of, let’s jump back to Saturday.Read More
I apologize, but my report from Saturday at PulpFest 2016 will be delayed. Timing is such that I’m not able to get the post written and posted today before I have to hit the road home.
I will try to get the day’s report posted as soon as I have the opportunity.Read More
Friday’s edition of PulpFest 2016 got underway with early registration at 9 a.m, with the dealers’ room opening at 10.
A sudden rainstorm blew through the area, which may have delayed some folks because traffic through the dealers’ room seemed slow for several hours.
There is a lot of construction going on in the hotel, which means that the dealers’ room is in a different location from previous years. It’s a bit farther away and not quite as obvious or convenient.
By noon, all the dealers were set up and ready for the weekend. I made a quick reconnaissance run up and down the aisles, just to get an idea of what was out there.Read More
