Con report: Pulp AdventureCon 2016 Florida

In 2015, those of us here in South Florida were fortunate that Rich Harvey and Audrey Parente of Bold Venture Press kicked off a version of Pulp AdventureCon here in Ft. Lauderdale. I attended that first show, and enjoyed myself, as it was the first (and so far only) pulp con/show I’ve been to.

In February 2016, Pulp AdventureCon returned to Ft. Lauderdale (same location: Universal Palms Hotel). Several of the vendors from the first show were there. And there were a couple of new ones.

Now, like the first one, it was just a dealer room where people could buy/sell/trade pulps, comics, books, art, and related materials. And chat with one another. No panel discussions or movies being shown or the like as I hear occurs at other cons. Maybe those will come as the convention grows.

One big change this year was a special guest: actor John Martino, who appeared in The Godfather as Don Vito Corleone‘s driver Pauli Gatto. He had a booth selling stuff, including a copy of the original movie script as well as a biography about him.

As with last year, for me the main attraction was meeting and chatting with fellow fans and dealers. I picked up a few items (several of which will be reviewed here soon). And this year, I was able to join in the dinners with others on Friday and Saturday nights.

I am told that they will have it again next year.  I look forward to that, and will try to help promote it as best I can.
